Description
Your Neighbourhood Dentist is looking for a Registered Dental Hygienist to cover an 18 month maternity leave starting December 2024 for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and 2 Saturdays per month (Saturday schedules provided at least 6 months in advance). We are NOT open Saturdays of holiday weekends.
This position may lead to permanent part time position for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication skills, is friendly and personable, can multitask and is an enthusiastic team player who is dedicated to patient care. We are a paperless office so computer literacy and proficiency are required. Excellent written and verbal English language skills are also a requirement.

Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities:
Provide excellent patient-centered dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patient, instruments, and materials; performing dental hygiene procedures in compliance with the CDHO; working as a team player in all aspects of a dental office.
Dental Hygienist Job Duties:
- Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepare patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
- Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
- Understand and adhere to Radiographic Quality Assurance Controls, Infection Control, WHMIS and all other applicable laws and regulations to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Perform hygienist duties including, but not limited to, scaling and removal of stains, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, digital radiography in the utmost highest standard of care at all times.
- Help dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-operative instructions.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist support staff when required; answering phones, checking emails, scheduling appointments, chart audits, sterilization, infection control
Qualifications
- Current registration with the CDHO and in good standing, self-initiated
- Current registration with HARP
- Current CPR/WHMIS Certification
- Fun, confident, positive and forward thinking.
- Hard-working, ethical, punctual, reliable, responsible and accountable.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced office and handling stressful situations.
- Capable of prioritizing and executing multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems and applications is a must.
- Proficient typing skills.
