Position Overview:
As a Dental Hygienist at Dentistree Family Dental Clinic, you will be responsible for providing high-level preventive care to patients, ensuring that they maintain optimal oral health. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Treatment:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, root planning, and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and debris from teeth and gums.
- Administer fluoride treatments and apply dental sealants to prevent cavities.
- Take high-quality dental X-rays and review with patients to monitor their oral health.
- Assist patients in understanding and practicing proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
- Provide recommendations for improving oral care based on individual patient needs.
Periodontal Care:
- Conduct periodontal assessments and assist in diagnosing gum disease.
- Perform non-surgical periodontal therapy, including scaling and root planning to manage periodontal conditions.
- Monitor and track patient progress for periodontal care and adjust treatment as needed.
Patient Education & Communication:
- Educate patients on the importance of preventive care, brushing techniques, and lifestyle changes that improve oral health.
- Provide detailed explanations of dental procedures and offer support and encouragement to patients to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Address any concerns or questions from patients regarding their oral health or treatment plans.
Clinic Support & Infection Control:
- Maintain sterilization and infection control protocols for all instruments and equipment, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
- Assist with maintaining inventory levels for dental supplies and order new materials when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment notes and X-ray documentation.
- Help prepare treatment rooms and ensure that all necessary instruments and materials are set up for each procedure.
Collaboration with Dental Team:
- Work closely with the dentist, dental assistants, and other team members to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality care.
- Collaborate on treatment plans, especially for patients with complex oral health issues.
- Assist in coordinating appointments and follow-up care to ensure patients receive the best possible experience.

Qualifications:
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with a valid license from the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO).
- Dental Hygiene diploma from an accredited institution.
- Experience with ClearDent software is an asset but not required.
- Bilingual (English and French) is an asset but not mandatory.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of dental procedures and infection control practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A strong commitment to providing high-quality care and maintaining patient comfort.
