Description
We are looking for a dentist with formal advanced training in orthodontics and prosthodontics for a dental practice with a multidisciplinary approach. The dentist should have a CODA or CDAC Accredited certificate in both Orthodontics and Prosthodontics. The position will involve diagnosing and treating orthodontic patients using both edgewise mechanics and clear aligner therapy with a restorative and prosthodontics-driven approach concept. Applicant MUST have experience in orthodontics AND prosthodontics.
Main Duties:
- Study diagnostic records, plaster and/or digital models of the teeth, photos of a patient’s face and teeth, and X-rays, to develop patient treatment plans to correct dental malocclusions.
- Adjust fixed and removable orthodontic appliances to produce and maintain normal function.
- Fit fixed/removable orthodontic or orthopedic appliances in patients’ mouths to alter the position of teeth and jaws or to realign teeth.
- Examine patients to assess abnormalities of jaw development or tooth position.
- Provide patients with proposed treatment plans and cost estimates.
- Instruct dental hygienists in orthodontic procedures and techniques.
- Prepare diagnostic and treatment records including taking and interpreting lateral cephalometric radiographs, panoramic radiographs, and/or cone beam computed tomography imaging.
- Coordinate orthodontic services with other dental and medical services, including treatment planning and preparing orthognathic surgery cases.
- Use temporary anchorage devices to facilitate orthodontic tooth movement if needed.
- Design, make, or fit prosthodontics appliances in conjunction with orthodontic treatment in multidisciplinary cases.

Wage: $90 per hour for 30 hours per week

Qualifications
Skills Required:
- Advanced Graduate Specialty Certificate in prosthodontics or operative dentistry from a CODA or CDAC-accredited university or hospital.
- Advanced Graduate Specialty Certificate in orthodontics from a CODA or CDAC-accredited university or hospital.
- At least 3 years of additional clinical experience with orthodontics involving hands-on patient care beyond the D.M.D degree and beyond the prosthodontics or operative dentistry certificate. Clinical experience must be within a CODA or CDAC-accredited hospital or university institution.
- Must have passed and have certificate from the National Dental Examining Board of Canada.
- Invisalign® Certified.
- Certified in Incognito™ or similar lingual orthodontic system.
- Must have at least 90 hours of coursework in advanced edgewise mechanics such as the Tweed Course.
- Demonstrated ability with treatment planning for multidisciplinary orthodontic and restorative cases.
