The ODA in collaboration with the Ottawa Dental Society are pleased to present the following seminars:
AM Session: PLP: Changing times…Changing needs
Category 1 – 3 CE Credits
Speaker: Alan Lachapelle and Dr. Peter Hong
Description:
The practice of dentistry grows more complex every year. There are more treatment options, procedures, materials, medications and ways to communicate than ever before. While the explosion of knowledge and information has resulted in great advances, it can also create new risks for patients and practitioners.
This course, offered by the Professional Liability Program of the RCDSO, examines emerging issues affecting dentists and offers risk management advice. PLP cases that have been resolved provide illustrations and tips to benefit you in your day-to-day dental practice.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- the role of PLP;
- details of PLP malpractice protection;
- the basics of offering a refund to a patient;
- the risks of social media;
- teledentistry and its risks;
- how good recordkeeping helps manage risk;
- informed consent from a litigation perspective; and
- ways to prevent adverse events in daily practice.
