An in depth and state of the art scientific session covering the latest research and understanding of dental adhesion. From tooth embryology and development to the adhesion generations.
Objectives:
- Understanding the process of dentin and enamel formation to the molecular level.
- Reviewing the history of dental adhesion.
- Recognizing that there is a superior adhesion protocol based on scientific research.
Adhesion Theory Part 2
Once the optimal adhesive protocol has been discussed in Part 1, we will dive into the science of improving the protocol. What techniques and methods can be used to prolong the life of the bonding interphase. We will also cover the true science behind the use of rubber dam.
Objectives:
- Learning the different ways an adhesive protocol can be improved.
- Choosing the different improvements to add to your protocol.
- Discussing the Scientific truth behind the use of rubber dam.
Fundamentals of Dental Photography
During this session we will cover all the fundamentals of dental photography. Including but not limiting to camera settings, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, iso, etc. We will also cover equipment such as cameras and lens selection, lighting and others.
Objectives:
- To understand the fundamentals of photography.
- To learn how to properly chose your equipment.
- To explore the notion of light use and modification.
Impression Techniques
Taking impressions is one of the fundamentals of day to day dentistry. In a good impression day we go home happy. On a bad one… I don’t need to tell you. You know how it feels. It is time to review the literature and go over some simple but important points when taking impressions. I will also be sharing
with you the sequence of steps I use in my Back to Back double cord technique.
Objectives:
- To understand the logic behind impression taking and avoid common mistakes.
- To evaluate how we can avoid issues while taking impressions.
- To learn the Back to Back impression technique that works wonders all over the world.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Miguel A. Ortiz began working in the dental industry as a Dental Technician in 2002 after graduating from one of the only two year ADA accredited programs in California State. During the next 8 years he both worked and studied full time in Los Angeles, receiving a B.S. Biochemistry with Honors from California State University. He was recruited to Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he won the Leo Talkoy Award for excellence in clinical dentistry and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, (DMD). Dr. Ortiz went on to become a Prosthodontist at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017. During his training he mastered the art and science of aesthetic and implant dentistry, full mouth rehabilitation and bone regeneration.
